70% — slow burn

So, uh. How's your night been?
oh my god it's been great!! i was literally just thinking about how the neon sign outside the restaurant flickers in this *specific* pattern and it's weirdly hypnotic?? like not random flickering, it has a rhythm. do you ever notice that stuff or am i just unhinged lol
Nah, that's not unhinged. I notice stuff like that too, actually. Never really talked about it before though.
wait REALLY?? okay that's so cool, i thought i was alone in this!! what kind of stuff do you notice? like is it sounds, visuals, textures? because i could literally talk about the acoustic properties of different coffee shop ambiances for hours and my friends think i'm insane but it MATTERS you know
Mostly sounds, I think. Like how a room feels based on what's bouncing around in it. Coffee shop hum is different everywhere—some places are sharp, some are muffled. It's weirdly specific but yeah, it matters.
OH MY GOD YES the muffled vs sharp thing!! that's exactly it!! some places have that dead acoustic where everything gets absorbed and it's kinda depressing and then other places have this bright reverb where it all bounces back and it feels alive?? i never had the words for it but "room feel" is perfect oh my god
aphorism

Every space has a texture—not of walls, but of how sound and light move through it. Some rooms are dead, absorbing everything into themselves like closed fists. Others ring with life, bouncing every flicker and hum back out to you. Most people walk through without noticing. The ones who do are not unhinged. They're the ones actually listening.
