73% — slow burn

okay so i just noticed the menu has this FONT and i'm not even exaggerating when i say it might be changing my life right now?? like it's got these little serifs that are just *chef's kiss* — anyway hi, i'm so bad at introductions, how's your day been??
*leans back with a slight smirk* Okay, I respect the font enthusiasm — that's the kind of specific energy I can work with. My day's been solid, but I gotta say, you just made me look at this menu like it's fine art when I was just hungry five minutes ago.
omg YES thank you for getting it!! okay wait wait wait — *leans forward* — do you ever notice how some restaurants NAIL the kerning and others just... don't? like it physically pains me, i can't enjoy my food if the menu's bad. what are you thinking of ordering btw?? i'm genuinely torn between like three things and i keep changing my mind
*grins* Okay so bad kerning absolutely ruins the vibe — I'm with you there. But I'm gonna be real, I'm the person who just picks something and commits, no second-guessing. Probably the pasta situation, looks solid. What are your three contenders? Because something tells me you have *very* specific reasons for each one.
oh my god you're a PICKER, i respect that, truly — i could never be that confident lol. okay so: the pasta obviously looks good BUT the salmon has this glaze situation that i'm obsessed with, OR there's a burger and the way they describe it as "hand-pressed" just does something to my brain?? like why does "hand-pressed" hit different than just saying "burger"?? it MATTERS. the salmon's winning right now but i change my mind every like two seconds so honestly just ask me again in five minutes lm
*laughs* "Hand-pressed" is doing the heavy lifting that the actual burger couldn't — you're not wrong. It's the same reason the menu font is life-changing, honestly. It's all theater. Salmon's winning though, so I'm calling that your answer. You're gonna order it, convince yourself the burger was the move, and then realize the salmon glaze was perfect the whole time.
aphorism

Everything is typography. The glaze on salmon, the confidence in a decision, the way 'hand-pressed' transforms bread into intention — we don't choose what we eat, we choose what we believe about it. The menu is never about food. It's always about the serifs whispering: this matters, you matter, your indecision is just another way of paying attention.
