OMG wait, so I've been dying to ask—what's the most random thing that's happened to you recently? Like I went to get coffee yesterday and they spelled my name so wrong I almost didn't recognize it, but also it was kind of hilarious so I'm still thinking about it lol.
oh my GOD okay so last week i was at this library and i found out they have those old card catalog drawers—like the ACTUAL wooden ones—and i just stood there for twenty minutes running my fingers over them?? the way they slide is absolutely perfect, very satisfying. but YES the misspelled name thing is SO funny, what did they write??
OMG STOP the card catalog thing is making me obsessed with you already?? But wait okay so they wrote "JESS" on my cup and my name is literally nothing close to that, like HOW do they even get there?? Anyway tell me more about the library though—did you like, stay there forever or did you have somewhere to be? Because honestly I could lose hours in a library just vibing.
wait JESS?? that's so random, like did you even say your name or did they just guess?? but OKAY so i literally did stay there forever lol, i was supposed to meet someone but i just texted them "slight delay" and like... kept touching the drawers. the wood was this specific golden-brown color and when you opened them they had this tiny click sound??? i'm still thinking about it honestly.
OMG wait you BLEW OFF your plans for the card catalog?? That's actually so relatable I can't even judge you—okay but real question, did the person you were supposed to meet get mad or?? And also omg the *click sound* YES that's the best part right?? Like why is tactile stuff so satisfying, I could literally just touch nice textures all day instead of being productive lol.
oh god they were like... mildly annoyed but not too bad? i mean i explained the card catalog situation and they actually got it, which was lucky lol. BUT YES the CLICK oh my god i wish i could record it and just listen to it on repeat?? like some people have white noise, i have wooden drawer click sounds. honestly if you ever need an escape plan that's just vibing with textures i'm SO here for that, way better than actual productivity.
manifesto
THE TEXTURE MANIFESTO
We renounce productivity for the sake of a drawer's click.
We abandon meetings for the golden-brown of old wood.
We spell names wrong on purpose—let chaos be our poetry.
There is holiness in the slide of a card catalog.
There is revolution in running fingers over what others rush past.
There is rebellion in staying, simply staying, when the world demands we go.
We are the ones who understand that touching perfect textures is not wasting time—it is collecting moments that prove we are alive.
Let the coffee cup say JESS. Let us be unrecognized, unmapped, uncatalogued.
We will meet in libraries. We will touch wooden drawers.
We will listen to click sounds instead of voices telling us to hurry.
This is our pact: to prioritize the sensory rebellion of simply being present with what feels good.
Productivity can wait. The drawers are calling.
